Due to the proportions of the land, a project was proposed in which the spaces are distributed in a linear way, communicated by a corridor that runs longitudinally throughout the house.
The patios and terraces guarantee sufficient natural lighting in the different areas of the house.
Initially, the property was occupied by a property in a state of deterioration that was demolished almost entirely, retaining only the foundation and what now represents 18% of the total constructed area.Related content This house is a gold mine ... Literally! Mestizo Architecture Workshop
In an effort to preserve the foundation of volcanic stone, the extension was designed respecting the original construction axes.
This was achieved using a mixed structural system in which perimeter masonry loading walls were occupied, embedding the structural steel beams that respect the original axes. In the interior intersections, steel columns were placed that are received by the running masonry shoes, adapted to withstand the punctual loads.
The materials focus on stone textures, mud and wood, on a neutral base of white tones and a hammer-colored metal structure, as a way of adding contrast.
The intention is to generate neutral spaces that allow a decoration according to the taste of its inhabitants. Similarly, the elements that made up the original facade were respected in order to maintain uniformity in the immediate context of the house.Related content A house with garden and porch Mestizo Architecture Workshop
