How to take advantage of leftovers

How many times have you overcooked and you find a lot of food that you don't know what to do with it?

Almost everything can be used, either by storing it in the fridge or freezer for another day or to make other recipes. In this way, you will save enough money and time.

Bread. While it is soft, cut it into slices and freeze it later. If it is already hard, use it in garlic soups, crumbs, French toast, gazpachos, salmorejos, meatballs or croutons.

Chicken. It will give you a lot of game in salads, soups or croquettes.

Fish and seafood. Do not throw the cooking water, you can make delicious soups and short broths for other stews. From seafood, rescue the husks to make a fumet. With leftovers, make croquettes, cakes, meatballs or spatter.

Pasta, rice, legumes ... Do not mix them with sauces or condiments and store them in the refrigerator. The remains will be perfect for preparing salads, a garnish of meat, fish and even a great dish for the tupper of the Office.

Bad habits
Each Spanish throws more than 1/2 kg of food a week according to the Spanish Agency for Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition.

Do not throw ... freeze!

The freezer is the perfect ally to reuse food.

Always store in airtight containers, bags or foil and in the quantities that you will then consume. Do not fill the container completely, especially if there are liquids, as they freeze, they will expand.

Have you made a broth and do not know what to do with vegetables? Prepare tasty creams, purees, pudding, terrines or meatloaf.

Question of eggs

If you have prepared a dessert with the egg yolks, keep the egg whites by freezing them or riding them to make creams or meringues. If what you have left over are the yolks, keep them whole submerged in a bowl of cold water and then use them in emulsified sauces or in cream-based pastry recipes.

Take advantage of the fruit

If you see that you are starting to pass apples, oranges, etc., prepare a rich natural fruit jam, a delicious smoothie and, in summer, refreshing ice cream.

If you already have it cut, make a syrup and dip it so that it does not blacken.
